Why NBC Shouldn’t Cancel The Black Donnellys
April 23rd, 2007 by Greg
Well, quite simply, The Black Donnellys symbolizes American culture. What every one wants to achieve but can’t quite attain. It’s a show full of snarl and grit. Our only free alternative to The Sopranos, on a less civil battle front. It’s a show that many people may not even watch just because of the nature of it, when in fact its a show that many people should watch strictly due to the nature of it. Four brothers uniting their family, brothers that would stop at nothing to protect those they love. It has action, romance, witt, and humor. It tells a tale that we all know so well, having to stick up for our own and what we hold dearly in our hearts. Granted we don’t goto the extreme of killing one another over it, well at least I can say I don’t, but it has passion something many shows of today lack. The crafty narration by Joey “Ice Cream” is second to none. It’s just another testament to how clever this program is. Given time and the chance, The Black Donnellys will be a main stay for the NBC network. Tens of thousands have signed petitions trying to save the show and it still seems to go unnoticed by NBC. It’s time for NBC to take a look at us and for us to take measures in saving what we truly love.

NBC/Network television needs to step up and get with the progam. Keep the Black Donnellys on the air and take a nod from your predecessors and STOP making 8-12 shows for the same time slot and make a few really good shows and give them time to find their auidence. I am to the point where I am going to boycott all network televsion. I am sick of the networks making multiple shows for the same time slot and throwing it all against the wall to see what sticks. Instead they should the put the time and effort in to making truly good shows and giving them a decent run. I am fed up with not only this issue but also the issue of repeats 4 weeks in to a new season. RIDICULOUS. The Black Donnellys is not the only show that has brought me to this point but it is the last straw. I will refrain from using words like “outraged” as some others viewers used in expressing their views. As honeslty I do feel this is an imortant enough to be “outraged”. The ongoing disaster of a war is something to be outraged over. Not television shows. However that said I am FED UP! And being fed up viewer I will no longer choose to be a viewer. I am not going to watch anything on the three main networks. When the Black Donnellys first came on the air I contemplated not watching it. Not because I didnt like and not because I didnt think it was a good show. But I thought to myself “Whats the point? They are problably going to take it off the air in one season or half a season.” Guess what I was right I must be psychic. So this will be my attitude from now. I wont even bother with new shows anymore because as far as I can tell there is no point. And far as the shows that are currently on the air and that I still watch (for now) their days are numbered as well do to the CONSTANT interuptions and repeats. From here on out its gonna AMNTM and PBS. Take a nod from AMNTM 16 new epsidoes break 16 new episodes break. I am DONE!

For some reason whenever I use the link you have for the petition and try to sign it, it does not work, yet when i go to the actually petition website and click on the black donnellys petition, it works. Has anyone else noticed that?

Please, Please , Please do anything you can to keep this show on! It is the best show that’s been on in a long time. Anyone know if another network, perhaps FX or Fox, can pick it up??

While NBC has had quite an impressive list of shows, such as The Office and My Name Is Earl, in pulling The Black Donnellys, the network is essentially ditching, in many ways, their feshest and best series. After I watched The Departed, I was hoping something else would pop up, which I found in the form of TBD. What TBD does is tell a universal story. While true that it tells the story of the plight of Irish Americans, it is also true that in many ways it tells the story of people tryig to fit in. In the spirit of S.E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders,” it was in many ways a story of love and comradery, of which there is little left on today’s mess of garbage that is called “television.” TBD is a truly captivating show that needs to be given another chance. If it was made more available, I think that the aforementioned universal appeal would become more apparent. Family before all. Tiocfaidh ar la!

Its bull that they think that ratings still matter. most people today use tivo or some other form of recording tv shows cause everyones sick of commercials. they should bring it back already i mean cbs brought back that crappy show jerico.
