If canceling a show in the first season due to low ratings is NBC's reasoning then they need to think about it very closely and how a similiar situation in the past could have cost them everything. I am speaking of course about Seinfeld when it first aired and received little recognition from fans or critics. I am one of the biggest fans of Seinfeld and will to this day debate that it is one of the most well written, intelligent and best sitcoms ever. But the show did poorly for the first 3 or 4 seasons until the writing improved and fans could not get enough of it. If NBC had decided to cancel the show they would have made the biggest mistake of all time because the show is hailed as one of the greatest sitcoms.
